This model came to be because I had bought 4 motors, and I like the wheels
from the towtruck(8462).
I decided to use those wheels to build a car that would be powered by
four LEGOŽ motors.
The basic chassis is heavily borrowed from the test car (8865).The suspension is exactly the same. |
This chassis is narrower by 2 (or 4?) studs, and I wanted the differential to be limited slip.
So, I had to place the differential longitudinally, and above the limited slip mechanism. |
Here you can see the limited slip mechanism; it is only missing a rubber band between the bottom belt wheel and the bushing. |
Here is a vue of the chassis with all the suspension finished. Now I will place the motors that drive the car in front of the rear wheels, |
On the picture at the left and below, you can see two of the driving motors and the steering motor.
Notice the steering motor in front of the driving motors. |
You can see the electrical connectors on top of the two driving motors. This is where the last two driving motors will go.
Notice that there is an additional differential between the driving motors. |
Two motors will power each side of the differential. This will make a low speed (2 motors) and a high speed (4 motors).
The two motors on each side are connected in serie to a battery box of 12 AA batteries in line with a switch. |
Here I am just showing off the stiffness of chassis with the suspension at work. |
The bodywork part is now started. Notice the last two motors (behind the seats) on top of the first two. |
Here you can see the electrical connector bundle (behind the seat) going to the remote control. |
Finally, here are some pictures of the finished car. |
